God's law was given so that all people could see how sinful they were.  But as people sinned more and more, God's wonderful grace became more abundant.  So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God's wonderful grace rules instead, giving us a right standing with  God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Here we can see the tug of war that goes on through our life.  Sin is always self-serving and expresses itself in many ways, such as lust, bitterness, anger, resentment, criticism, fault finding all of which bring some serious tension to our relationships in the home, work place and community.  Grace on the other hand gives what is called here “eternal life” which brings about  eternal attitudes of kindness, encouragement, joy, blessing, thanksgiving and praise because of God's love given without condemnation.  As we begin to learn to live overwhelmed by his grace, we can see, hear and respond so that our Lord’s character is seen through our life, then others are refreshed and we are blessed.  Today, may you enjoy that life that is called eternal through Jesus the Christ.  Take a breath of his grace, then relax, look up and give thanks to the Lord.  You will see, hear and respond in such a way, that you will feel like all things have become new again, it is just what a life of grace does.
